Move over Chromecast, There’s a new cool streaming device in town. Share what’s on your tablet, laptop, or smartphone on an HDTV or monitor with Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter [$60]. It’s a little different from Chromecast because it doesn’t require Wifi. Stream movies, view personal photos, or display a presentation on a big screen – all wirelessly. One end plugs in to an HDMI slot and the other sticks into the USB for power. It uses the Miracast screencasting standard, so you can stream up to 1080p video and 5.1 surround sound. Besides TVs, it can also work with any HDMI-equipped display, including projectors and monitors. And it isn’t just for streaming using Microsoft products, it will also work with any device that supports Miracast over WiFi Direct.
