When I was in the Navy and stationed in North Chicago at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, I would often visit the  Museum of Science and Industry located in the Kenwood section of Chicago. While I’m not sure, I would venture to guess that this was the inspiration for the name of the magnificent Kenwood Loafer. Much like that landmark building located in Kenwood, the Kenwood Loafer by Allen Edmonds  [$191.25] immediately demands respect and attention. The first thing that you notice is the single oak leather sole. It is sturdy and elegant yet unassuming. The simple sole lays the foundation for the hand-sewn stitching,  the sophisticated roll of the penny saddle and the hand-sewn kicker in the back. The Kenwood Loafer delivers everything and more that one would expect from a classic American penny loafer. Allen Edmonds has been creating timeless, custom-made men’s dress shoes and casual shoes since 1922.  Allen Edmonds shoes use only premium leathers and are handcrafted in America. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who likes a well-made comfortable, classic,  american shoe.
