The IceMule Cooler [$49.95 to $159.95] is touted as “the world’s most portable high-performance soft cooler” and we have to agree. When you can have a cooler that combines the portability of a backpack with the performance of a hard cooler, you’d be crazy to pass that up . And when they say high-performance… they mean it. It keeps ice for up to 24 hours. Every other soft cooler I’ve ever tried doesn’t even come close to those numbers. And when they say portable, they ain’t just whistling Dixie. It rolls up for storage in its own stuff sack sort-of like a very small sleeping bag. What makes it so awesome is that it isn’t sewn together and it has no zippers. That translates to durability and NO LEAKING. The IceMule’s design is much like the traditional dry bag concept that uses welded seams so it can carry ice without leaking like a soft cooler typically does. The IceMule is able to keep ice so long because of its double-layered shell that houses insulating foam between the layers basically creating an uber-insulated dry bag. Perhaps the most awesome feature is the IceMule’s watertight roll-top closure and side release buckle that makes it highly accessible and the padded back-strap makes it incredibly portable. Just fill it up, strap it on like a messenger bag and roll on out with tasty cold beverages. We’ve tried more than a few portable coolers, and this one is hands down the best. Definitely the IceMule is Uber Apparatus Best Of Breed!
