Made by the effusive Sequoia Grove Director of Winemaking Michael Trujillo, the 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon [$38] embodies the American spirit, with grapes grown in the heart of Napa Valley and aged entirely in 100% American oak. Dark black in color, the nose gives an immediate aroma of dark, smoky chocolate, leading into ripe blackberries and sweet cherries with notes of clove, vanilla and cocoa powder. The palate is smooth and rich with ripe, developed tannins giving the wine a full arc in the mouth and offering flavors of blackberry and a hint of smoky, sweet oak. It pairs well with garlic rubbed red meat or braised short ribs that fall of the bone. The name comes from the iconic grove of sequoia trees that surround the winery.
