Celebrate Someone Truly Unforgettable: The 2007 Montes Taita [$300], a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% of other varietals selected each year by winemaker Aurelio Montes, Sr., is an extremely special and limited production wine made from grapes in Marchigüe in the Colchagua Valley. Millions of years ago, a glacier carrying large amounts of alluvial material settled here; the resulting granite and clay soils give high acidity and structure to the wine. Intense blueberry, blackberry, mocha and truffle aromas are joined by cedar and bitter chocolate on the palate. Taita is elegant, powerful and concentrated, with soft, approachable tannins, with a long and complex finish. Enjoy it now, or cellar it up for up fifteen years.
